10 Tips for traveler in Maldives

1. SURF BOOTIES

The surf booties will protect you from possible cuts or spine of urchins, when you need to step on the reef. Advanced surfers or even intermediates don't used to like, to don't modify the performance at surf time. For beginners, it's a item highly recommended to bring.

2. WHAT TO BRING IN THE BAG

For sure a good sunscreen, after-sun lotion or any moisturizing cream (you will say thanks after whole day under the Sun). Flip flops, soft clothes, hat or cap (up to you). You will spend long time in the water or wet, really no need many clothes. About the shoes: the sandy streets will make you want to walk barefoot, one sandal will be more than enough.

3. BIKINI

Here its a local Island and due the muslim culture, women should not walk around the island wearing only a bikini. Himmafushi now has a restricted part of the beach where bikini is released.

4. PUBLIC BEHAVIOR

To explore the Island, we recommend for men not to walk shirtless and specially for the women, alone at night time, remember clothes not too short, not too tight and cover the shoulders. Its a good way to show respect to the locals and to the culture. Demonstrations of love in public are not very welcome as well...

5. ELETRICITY PLUG IN MALDIVES

The usual plug in Maldives are the one in the photo above.

6. VISA AND DOCUMENTS

When you arrive at the Airport, you will get the visa for 30 days. Basically you will need: a valid passport, return ticket to country of origin (or if you will keep traveling, to another country), booking reservation and travel & insurance card. Do not forget to check the Immigration website of the Maldives, depending on your country, you may also need to have taken the yellow fever vaccine and the respective international vaccination card.

7. SURFBOARD

Some airlines can make your Holiday looks like a nightmare with all policies and taxes to bring your surfboard. If start to get too hard for you, you still can rent one. Make the calculation, sometimes it will be more cheap than pay one or two hundred dollars, to bring your surfboard and take the risk to land it broken.

8. THE FISHES AND THE BRIGHT

Don't forget to remove your ring, earring, necklace, bracelet or watch before entering in the water. Some fishes like Barracuda can  be attracted by brightness or reflection. Its a good attitude to avoid this risk and her big teeth.

Water, water and water....never forget to drink water here!!! its a must to be hydrateted....you gonna loose minerals and water from the natural sweeting!!!

10. SUN PROTECTION

It's so cliche but important to repeat, because we know about it, you want a tan, not a toast... Maldives is located on the Equator line, which means fiery sun all day long. To avoid insolation, we say: good sunscreen and if possible, water proof, you gonna spend many hours wet.
